Pigmentation & Brightening in Seongsu, Seoul

Custom pigment laser, Miin, Noblin and toning, after diagnosing your pigment type

Dark spots, uneven tone, and melasma are among the most common reasons people visit a skin clinic in Korea. At Seongsu Melting Clinic in Seongsu, Seoul, pigmentation and brightening treatments begin with identifying what kind of pigment you have, because each type behaves differently.

What causes pigmentation?

Pigment is made by cells called melanocytes. Sun exposure, hormones, inflammation from acne or injury, and aging can all push them to produce more, or to produce it unevenly. Freckles and sun spots tend to be well defined; melasma is usually blurry, symmetrical, and hormone-sensitive; post-inflammatory marks follow acne or irritation. Some redness that looks like pigment is actually from blood vessels.

How we approach pigmentation at Seongsu Melting Clinic

  • Custom pigment laser: settings chosen for your specific pigment type and skin.
  • Miin laser: Q-switched 1064nm for toning and pigment, used at gentle settings for sensitive conditions like melasma.
  • Noblin: dual wavelength (Noblex and Ailin) for pigment mixed with redness or visible vessels.
  • GLA gold toning: an option for tone and brightness.

A good fit if…

  • You have freckles, sun spots, uneven tone, or post-acne marks.
  • You can commit to a series and daily sunscreen.
  • You accept that melasma is managed rather than cured.

Consider something else if…

  • A spot is changing, bleeding, or irregular; it needs medical evaluation first.
  • You have a fresh tan or plan heavy sun exposure soon.
  • You are pregnant; many pigment treatments are postponed.

What to expect

Dr. Park Kyung-min examines your skin, explains the likely pigment type, and discusses pricing. Toning feels like light snapping and usually has little downtime; spot treatments can leave small darkened crusts that flake off over days. Most plans involve several sessions. Pigment, especially melasma, can return with sun, heat, or hormonal changes, so maintenance and sun protection matter.

A note from Dr. Park

Aftercare

  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and reapply outdoors.
  • Let any small crusts flake off on their own; do not pick.
  • Avoid saunas, hot baths, and heat exposure for the period advised, since heat can worsen melasma.
  • Pause strong acids or retinoids until we tell you to restart.

A note from Dr. Park

Dr. Park often tells patients that diagnosis matters more than power. He uses exact, measured settings, explains before treating, and is honest that some pigment is a long-term condition to manage.
