V-Line Thread Lift in Seongsu, Seoul
Jawline threads, and when to pair them with MelFat for a double chin
A V-line thread lift at Seongsu Melting Clinic uses dissolvable threads along the jawline to sharpen the lower face. Dr. Park Kyung-min often looks at this together with the area under the chin, because a jawline can lose definition from loose tissue, extra fat, or both.
What is a V-line thread lift?
"V-line" describes a slimmer, more tapered lower face. A V-line thread lift places dissolvable threads beneath the skin along the jaw and lower cheek. Barbed threads gently reposition tissue that has started to descend, while the collagen response around the threads may support firmness as they dissolve over the following months.
The aim is a cleaner jawline and softer jowls, not a change in bone shape. If your jaw looks wide because of bone or a strong masseter muscle, threads will not change that.
Threads and MelFat: why we often combine them
Many people who want a V-line also have a double chin. Threads can lift tissue, but they are not designed to remove fat. If fat under the chin is heavy, it can weigh on the jawline and make threads work harder.
That is where MelFat, our steroid-free proprietary fat-dissolving injection (patent pending), comes in. MelFat targets fat under the chin, and threads then lift and define the jaw. For suitable patients, treating fat and laxity together can give a more balanced result than either step alone. The order and timing depend on your exam.
How we approach the V-line thread lift at Seongsu Melting Clinic
Dr. Park palpates the jawline, the retaining ligaments near the jaw, and the fat under the chin. He checks whether the masseter muscle is contributing to width and whether skin quality can support threads. From there, he may suggest:
- Jawline threads alone, for mild jowling with little fat
- MelFat plus threads, when there is both a double chin and laxity
- Masseter Botox, when muscle bulk is the main cause of a wide lower face
- Energy devices such as InMode Mini FX or ONDA, in some cases
A good fit if…
- Your jawline has softened or early jowls have appeared
- You have a double chin along with some laxity
- You want visible definition without surgery
- You can plan around a few days of swelling
Consider something else if…
- Your lower face is wide mainly because of bone structure
- You are pregnant or have an active infection in the area
- You take blood thinners or have a bleeding tendency (tell us first)
- You have heavy neck laxity that would respond better to surgery
What to expect
Dr. Park explains the plan before treatment and talks with you during it. Threads are placed under local anesthesia; you may feel pressure and pulling. If MelFat is part of the plan, that injection takes about 30 minutes.
Swelling, bruising, and tightness along the jaw are common for several days. After MelFat, swelling and bruising under the chin often last 2–3 days and can take 1–2 weeks to fully settle. Results develop over weeks and vary between people.
Aftercare
- Avoid wide mouth opening, chewy food, and pressure on the jaw for the period advised
- Sleep on your back for the first few nights
- Follow the massage instructions if MelFat was used
- Avoid saunas, alcohol, and intense exercise for several days
A note from Dr. Park
Dr. Park often shares that he tried double-chin injections on himself and built MelFat from that experience. That is part of why he looks at fat and sagging separately along the jawline, and explains before treatment which part each step addresses.
Frequently asked questions
Will a V-line thread lift make my jaw narrower?
It can make the jawline look more defined, but it does not change bone width. Muscle bulk may be addressed separately.
Do I need MelFat as well?
Only if there is meaningful fat under the chin. Dr. Park decides this after examining you.
How long is the recovery?
Most people have noticeable swelling for several days. Plan more margin if you have important events.
