Calf Slimming in Seongsu, Seoul
MelFat for calf fat, and an honest look at muscle-dominant calves
Calf slimming at Seongsu Melting Clinic starts with a simple but important check: are your calves mainly fat or mainly muscle? Dr. Park Kyung-min uses MelFat, our fat-dissolving injection, for calves where fat is the main issue. For muscle-dominant calves, a different approach is needed, and he will explain it honestly at consultation.
What makes calves look large?
Calf shape depends on several factors:
- Fat: a soft layer of fat over the calf, often around the lower leg and ankle area, that can be pinched.
- Muscle: the gastrocnemius muscle, which can be naturally prominent or enlarged by activity such as walking in heels, running, or certain sports.
- Fluid and circulation: swelling from standing or sitting for long periods can make legs look fuller, especially by evening.
- Bone and structure: leg shape and proportions that injections cannot change.
Most people have a mix. The approach that works for one type often does little for another.
How we approach calf slimming at Seongsu Melting Clinic
Dr. Park examines your calves while you stand relaxed and then while you rise onto your toes. Muscle that firms and bulges during that movement suggests a muscular calf. Soft, pinchable tissue over the calf suggests fat.
- Fat-dominant calves: MelFat, our steroid-free proprietary recipe (patent pending), may be injected into the fat layer to reduce it gradually. A session takes about 30 minutes.
- Muscle-dominant calves: fat-dissolving injections will not reduce muscle. Other options, including injections that relax the calf muscle, are discussed at consultation, with a careful look at your activity level and walking needs.
- Mixed calves: a staged plan may be suggested.
A good fit if…
- You have soft, pinchable fat over the calves
- You are at a fairly stable weight
- You want gradual slimming without surgery
- You understand that more than one session may be needed
Consider something else if…
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have leg swelling, varicose veins, or a history of blood clots that has not been evaluated
- You have an active infection or skin condition on the legs
- Your calf size is mainly muscle or bone
What to expect
Dr. Park explains his findings and plan before treatment and talks with you during it. MelFat takes about 30 minutes, and many people feel warmth in the calves afterward. Swelling and bruising usually last 2–3 days and may take 1–2 weeks to settle. Walking is fine, though the calves may feel tight or tender for a while. Fat reduction develops gradually, and results vary.
Aftercare
- Massage the treated area for 2–3 hours as instructed
- Avoid intense leg workouts, saunas, and alcohol on the treatment day
- Wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing
- Elevate your legs if swelling is bothersome
- Contact us if you notice significant pain, heat, or swelling in one leg
A note from Dr. Park
Dr. Park often explains that he built MelFat after trying fat-dissolving injections on himself, and that experience makes him careful about telling patients which areas it can help. He would rather tell someone their calves are mostly muscle than inject an area that will not respond.
Frequently asked questions
Can MelFat slim muscular calves?
No. MelFat targets fat, not muscle. Muscular calves need a different approach, which we discuss at consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the amount of fat. Many patients need more than one session.
Can I walk normally after treatment?
Yes. Your calves may feel tight or tender for a few days, but normal walking is fine.
