Shurink Universe is a HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) device we use at Seongsu Melting Clinic for lifting and firming. It has two delivery modes and seven cartridges, which gives Dr. Park Kyung-min room to match depth and energy to each area of the face instead of treating everything the same way.
What is Shurink Universe?
HIFU focuses ultrasound energy to tiny points beneath the skin surface. At each point, the tissue heats briefly, creating small thermal zones while the skin on top is largely spared. Over the following weeks, the body responds by remodeling collagen, which may lead to firmer, more lifted skin.
Shurink Universe offers two ways of delivering that energy:
- Dot mode (normal mode): energy is placed in individual points at a set depth, a traditional HIFU pattern.
- Line mode (MP mode): energy is delivered in a continuous line, which many patients find more comfortable and which spreads heat more evenly across an area.
The device has seven cartridges for different depths and purposes, including Ultra F, a cartridge designed for more delicate and curved areas, and the Ultra Booster pen-type handpiece for smaller, detailed zones.
How we approach Shurink Universe at Seongsu Melting Clinic
Dr. Park begins with a hands-on exam. He feels where the retaining ligaments are firm, where fat has shifted, and where skin is thin. Deeper cartridges are generally used where there is enough tissue to support them; shallower ones and Ultra F are reserved for thinner areas. The Ultra Booster pen may be used around fine contours where a larger handpiece is less precise.
Shurink is often combined with InMode radiofrequency, since RF and HIFU act on tissue in different ways. We may also use Shurink body cartridges in body contouring plans. None of these combinations is automatic; each is based on the exam.
A good fit if…
- You notice early to moderate loosening along the jawline or cheeks
- You want gradual firming without incisions
- You prefer adjustable comfort options, such as line mode
- You are open to a maintenance plan rather than a one-time fix
Consider something else if…
- You are pregnant, or have an active infection or open wound in the area
- You have very thin or hollow facial tissue, where heat-based lifting may not help
- You have significant laxity that is more suited to surgical evaluation
- You expect a dramatic result after a single session
What to expect
Dr. Park explains the plan, the cartridges he intends to use, and why, before treatment starts. During the session he tells you what is coming next so nothing feels sudden. Most people feel brief, deep warmth or a prickly sensation with each pulse; line mode is often perceived as gentler.
Mild redness, slight swelling, or tenderness along the jaw can occur and usually settles within a few days. Most people return to daily routines right away. Tightening typically appears gradually over several weeks. Maintenance timing varies and is discussed at consultation.
Aftercare
- Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer for the first few days
- Wear sunscreen daily
- Avoid very hot environments and alcohol on the day of treatment
- Report any numbness or tenderness that does not improve

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between dot and line mode?
Dot mode places energy at individual points; line mode delivers it in a continuous pass. Both aim to stimulate collagen, and Dr. Park may use one or both depending on the area.
Is Shurink the same as Ultherapy?
Both are focused ultrasound, but they are different devices. Ultherapy Prime includes real-time imaging, while Shurink offers multiple cartridges and modes. Your exam decides which fits.
How soon will I see a change?
Some people feel slightly firmer early on, but most of the change develops over weeks. Results vary.
