HIFU Body Contouring in Seongsu, Seoul

Shurink Universe body cartridges, often combined with MelFat injections

HIFU body contouring at Seongsu Melting Clinic uses the body cartridges of Shurink Universe, a focused ultrasound device, to firm skin and address localized fat on areas such as the abdomen, arms, and thighs. Dr. Park Kyung-min often pairs it with MelFat, our fat-dissolving injection, when a stubborn pocket needs more direct treatment.

What is HIFU body contouring?

HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. Ultrasound energy is concentrated at a specific depth below the skin, creating small zones of heat while the surface stays largely intact.

On the body, this heat may do two things:

  • Firm the skin: thermal zones in the deeper skin and connective tissue can prompt collagen remodeling, helping loose skin feel tighter over time.
  • Affect fat: at deeper settings, focused heat in the fat layer may damage fat cells that the body gradually clears.

Shurink Universe for the body

Shurink Universe has seven cartridges, including options for deeper body treatment, plus dot and line modes. Line mode spreads energy in continuous passes, which many patients find more comfortable over larger areas. Dr. Park selects cartridges based on the thickness of the fat and skin he feels during the exam.

Why combine HIFU with MelFat?

HIFU and MelFat work differently. HIFU uses heat at a chosen depth and also supports skin firmness. MelFat is a steroid-free proprietary injection (patent pending) that targets fat directly and takes about 30 minutes. When an area has both a stubborn fat pocket and some loosening, combining them may address both. Not everyone needs both; the exam decides.

How we approach HIFU body contouring at Seongsu Melting Clinic

Dr. Park pinches and palpates each area to judge fat thickness and skin quality. Thin, loose skin may be treated mainly for firmness. A thicker fat pocket may call for MelFat, sometimes followed by HIFU. For some patients, Body InMode or Body ONDA fits better, and he will explain why.

A good fit if…

  • You have localized fat or mild laxity on the abdomen, arms, or thighs
  • You are near a stable weight
  • You want a non-surgical option with minimal downtime
  • You are comfortable waiting for gradual change

Consider something else if…

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an active infection, wound, or skin condition in the area
  • You have implants in the treatment zone (tell us first)
  • You want significant overall weight loss rather than contour refinement

What to expect

Dr. Park explains the plan and each step before starting, and he keeps talking with you during treatment. HIFU pulses may feel like deep warmth or brief prickling. Mild redness, tenderness, or swelling can occur and usually settles within a few days. If MelFat is added, swelling and bruising often last 2–3 days and may take 1–2 weeks to settle. Changes develop gradually over weeks to months. Results vary.

Aftercare

  • After MelFat, massage the area for 2–3 hours as instructed
  • Stay hydrated and move lightly to support recovery
  • Avoid saunas, alcohol, and heavy exercise on the day of treatment
  • Wear loose clothing over treated areas

A note from Dr. Park

Dr. Park often explains that body areas differ as much as faces do. He built MelFat after trying double-chin injections himself, and he tends to combine it with devices only when he can explain what each part is doing for that specific area.

Frequently asked questions

Is HIFU body contouring the same as facial HIFU?

It uses the same technology but different cartridges and settings designed for body tissue.

Will I lose weight with HIFU?

HIFU is not a weight-loss treatment. It may refine contour and firmness in specific areas.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends on the area and your goals. We discuss a realistic plan at consultation.
