Laser Toning in Seongsu, Seoul
Low-energy Miin laser toning and GLA gold toning for a clearer, even tone
Laser toning is a gentle, repeated laser treatment used to even out skin tone and support clearer-looking skin. At Seongsu Melting Clinic in Seongsu, Seoul, toning is usually performed with the Miin laser, and for acne-prone skin the clinic also offers GLA gold toning.
It is a gradual approach. One session rarely changes much on its own; the benefit comes from a planned series.
What is laser toning?
Toning uses a Q-switched 1064nm laser at low energy with a wide, even beam. The very short pulses break up excess pigment into smaller fragments that the body can clear, while keeping heat low to reduce irritation. This is sometimes called a nano-genesis style of treatment.
Because the energy is low, toning is well suited to diffuse, blotchy pigment and dullness, and it is often part of a melasma plan. It is not designed to erase a single dark spot in one visit; a targeted pigment laser does that job better.
How we approach laser toning at Seongsu Melting Clinic
The Miin laser offers several modes. Single mode delivers one short pulse. Double mode delivers two pulses close together, and Miin mode uses a multi-pulse Q-switched pattern designed to spread energy more gently. Dr. Park Kyung-min chooses the mode and energy based on how reactive your skin is and what type of pigment he sees.
GLA gold toning is part of the clinic's acne care. Gold particles are applied to the skin and a laser is used to target oil glands and inflammation, so it is aimed more at breakouts and redness than at brown pigment.
Toning is often combined with a custom pigment plan, skin boosters or calming skincare, depending on your skin.
A good fit if…
- Your skin tone looks uneven, dull or blotchy
- You have melasma and want a low-energy, maintenance-friendly option
- You have acne-prone skin (GLA gold toning may be discussed)
- You are comfortable with a series of short visits
Consider something else if…
- You are pregnant
- You have a fresh tan or sunburn
- You want a single raised spot or mole treated (this needs assessment and a different approach)
- You expect one session to clear all pigment
What to expect
After a skin check with Dr. Park, the face is cleansed and eye shields are placed. Toning usually feels like light snapping or warmth. Many people return to normal activities the same day, sometimes with mild redness.
Sessions are typically repeated at regular intervals, and results build gradually. Maintenance may be recommended, especially for melasma. Pricing is explained at consultation.
Aftercare
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, even indoors near windows
- Keep skincare simple and moisturizing for a day or two
- Avoid scrubs and strong acids around treatment days
- Tell the clinic if you notice new darkening or unusual irritation
A note from Dr. Park
Dr. Park prefers genuine equipment used at settings chosen for each patient rather than a one-size program. With toning, he often reminds patients that gentle and consistent tends to work better for pigment than aggressive and occasional, and that daily sunscreen does a large share of the work.
Frequently asked questions
