How MelFat started
MelFat began with Dr. Park's own double chin. He tried double-chin injections on himself, and that first-hand experience of the process, including what felt uncomfortable and what could be improved, led him to build his own formula. He wanted a recipe without steroids that he would be comfortable using on his own face.
What is MelFat injection?
Fat-dissolving injections place a solution directly into a layer of fat. The goal is to break down a portion of the fat cells in that area so that the body can clear them over the following weeks. MelFat is the clinic's proprietary version of this idea. The exact formula is not published while the patent is pending, but two points are clear: it is steroid-free, and it is given at the dose Dr. Park plans for your area.
It is not a weight-loss treatment. MelFat works on the shape of a specific area, not on your overall weight.

How we approach MelFat at Seongsu Melting Clinic
The consultation is based on fat distribution. Dr. Park examines and pinches the area to see how much of the fullness is actually fat that can be injected, and how much comes from loose skin, muscle or bone structure. Under the chin, for instance, some fullness is sagging rather than fat, which is better addressed with lifting or threads. In the calves, some bulk is muscle. MelFat only helps the fat part, so he will tell you honestly how much of the change you are hoping for it can realistically deliver.

What to expect
After the consultation and marking, the injection itself takes about 30 minutes, depending on the area. Most people feel a stinging or warm sensation as the solution goes in, and the area may feel warm for a while afterwards. Swelling and bruising usually last two to three days and can persist for one to two weeks in some patients. Changes appear gradually as the body clears the treated fat, and the number of sessions depends on the area and how much fat there is. Results vary from person to person.
Aftercare
- Massage the area for 2 to 3 hours after treatment, as instructed by the clinic
- Expect a warm feeling, swelling and possible bruising; these usually settle within days
- Avoid saunas, hot baths and heavy exercise for the first day or two
- Hold off on alcohol for a short period to help swelling settle
- Contact the clinic if you notice increasing pain, redness or warmth that worsens rather than improves
A note from Dr. Park
Dr. Park often tells patients that he would not offer a recipe he had not been willing to think through for his own face. Because MelFat grew out of his own double-chin injections, he is especially careful to separate fat from sagging at consultation, and to use the exact dose planned rather than more than needed.
