What is nasolabial fold filler?
HA filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in skin. Injected under a deepened fold, it adds support and softens the shadow. HA fillers generally last about 6 to 12 months, depending on the product, area and your metabolism.
The key question is why the fold has deepened. In some people it is mainly volume loss near the fold. In others, the cheek above has sagged downward and is piling up against the fold. Filling directly into a fold that is caused by sagging can add weight and make the lower face look heavier.

If volume loss is the main issue, a modest amount of HA filler may be placed in the fold area. If the midcheek has lost support, a small amount of filler higher up or a lifting approach may soften the fold more naturally.
When sagging is the main driver, a thread lift or a lifting device such as ONDA, Shurink or Ultherapy Prime may be a better first step. Many patients do well with a combination.

What to expect
After consultation and a clear explanation, the area is cleansed and numbing may be used. Injection takes a short time, and Dr. Park talks you through it. Swelling, tenderness and bruising are possible for several days.

Aftercare
- Avoid pressing, massaging or sleeping on the treated area for the first few days
- Skip saunas, intense exercise and alcohol for a day or two
- Use a cool compress gently if swelling appears
- Avoid dental work or facials in the area for a short time if possible
- Contact the clinic right away if you notice increasing pain, blanching, dusky skin color or vision changes
