Double Chin Treatment in Seongsu, Seoul
MelFat, InMode Mini FX, ONDA, and threads, chosen by whether it is fat or sag
Double chin treatment has a personal history at Seongsu Melting Clinic. Dr. Park Kyung-min tried double-chin injections on himself, and that experience led him to develop MelFat, our signature fat-dissolving injection. Today, he uses MelFat alongside energy devices and threads, depending on what is actually causing the fullness under your chin.
What causes a double chin?
Fullness under the chin usually comes from one or more of these:
- Submental fat: a pocket of fat under the chin that often resists diet and exercise.
- Skin and tissue laxity: loose skin and weakened support around the jaw and neck.
- Structure: a smaller chin, jaw position, or posture that makes the area look fuller.
The treatment depends on which one is dominant. Dissolving fat under a chin that is mostly loose skin can leave the area looking slack. Lifting skin over a thick fat pocket may not change much either.
How we approach double chin treatment at Seongsu Melting Clinic
Dr. Park begins by pinching and palpating the area under the chin, feeling the thickness of the fat and the quality of the skin, and checking how the jawline is supported. Then he chooses from:
- MelFat injection: our steroid-free proprietary recipe (patent pending), injected into the fat under the chin. A session takes about 30 minutes.
- InMode Mini FX: radiofrequency that heats small fat pockets to reduce fullness gradually, often without numbing cream.
- ONDA: microwave energy with a deeper 7mm handpiece suitable for fat and tightening.
- Threads: dissolvable jawline threads when laxity is part of the problem.
Many patients benefit from a combination, such as MelFat for fat and threads or energy lifting for firmness.
A good fit if…
- You have a soft fat pocket under the chin that has not changed with weight loss
- Your skin still has reasonable elasticity
- You want a gradual, non-surgical improvement
- You are prepared for some swelling after injections
Consider something else if…
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have an active infection or inflammation in the neck area
- The fullness is mainly loose skin, where lifting may make more sense than fat reduction
- You have a thyroid or neck swelling that has not been evaluated (see your doctor first)
What to expect
Dr. Park handles your visit from consultation to finish. He explains the plan before starting and talks with you during treatment. With MelFat, you may feel a warm or stinging sensation for a short time after injection. With energy devices, you will mainly feel heat.
After MelFat, swelling and bruising commonly last 2–3 days and can take 1–2 weeks to fully resolve. Energy treatments usually cause only mild redness or tenderness. Fat reduction develops gradually, and several sessions may be needed. Results vary.
Aftercare
- After MelFat, massage the area for 2–3 hours as instructed
- Expect swelling and avoid judging the result in the first weeks
- Avoid alcohol, saunas, and heavy exercise on the treatment day
- Contact us if swelling increases sharply or you have difficulty swallowing
A note from Dr. Park
Dr. Park often tells patients that he developed MelFat after trying double-chin injections on himself. That experience shaped how he explains the process: before treatment, he tells you exactly what you will feel and how long swelling may last, and he checks whether fat is really the cause.
Frequently asked questions
Is MelFat the same as other fat-dissolving injections?
MelFat is our own steroid-free recipe, patent pending, developed by Dr. Park. The exact formulation is proprietary.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on how much fat there is and how you respond. We plan the number together at consultation.
Can I combine MelFat with a thread lift?
Yes, for many patients. MelFat addresses fat, and threads address laxity along the jawline.
